'Cleansing' of judiciary gathers pace

Around one thousand of Venezuela's 1,700 judges could be removed from office as part of a drive to "clean up" the country's judiciary. The announcement, made by the president of the judicial commission of the supreme court, Luis Velásquez Alvaray, followed a week in which 53 judges found themselves without a job.
